Registrars, HMOs, Interns and medical students gain valuable experience at WRHS.
Interns
- On rotation from Western Health.
- Five interns are placed at WRHS with Core Rotations in Medicine, Surgery and Emergency Medicine.
- There are four ten week rotations and one twelve week rotation each year.
Registrars
Various registrar posts are available at WRHS which are either on rotation from Level 3 Hospitals or appointed through a recruitment process. The Registrar workforce includes:
- Accredited and Unaccredited Surgical Registrars from the Alfred Hospital
- Medical Registrars from Western Health
- Obstetric Registrar from the Royal Women’s Hospital
- Paediatric Registrars
- Urological Registrar
- Anaesthetic Registrars from Melbourne Health
- GP Obstetric Registrars via the Bogong Regional Training Network
Hospital Medical Officers
The Emergency Department is staffed by several Hospital Medical Officers supported and supervised by Specialists in Emergency Medicine. Many of the HMOs are International Medical Graduates who have been recruited directly to Wodonga Regional Health Service after completing the Australian Medical Council examinations and gaining registration through the Medical Practitioners Board of Victoria.
WRHS also participates in the clinical placements for Medical students from the University of New South Wales through the Greater Murray Clinical School located in Albury.
