The WRHS Board of Management comprises of an interesting group of individuals. With 6 members in total, all with specific roles and delegations, the Board are responsible to the Minister for setting strategic directions of the Health Service within the framework of government policy.
The Board of Management are accountable for ensuring that these rural health services:
- are efficiently managed,
- provide high quality care and service delivery,
- meet the needs of the community; and
- meet financial and non-financial performance targets
Introducing the Board of Management
Mr G Welsh – Chairperson
Mr Graeme Welsh joined the Board in November 2000 and was Treasurer from 2003 – 2004 and is currently semi-retired. His qualifications are Electrical License, Marketing Management, Business Administration and Business Studies Certificate. Graeme is a Director of ATEL (Apprentices Trainees Employment Ltd).
Mrs M Armstrong – Vice Chairperson
Mrs Marcia Armstrong joined the Board in 2004 and is the Maternal & Child Health Nurse Coordinator for the City of Wodonga. Her qualifications are Postgraduate Diploma in Advanced Clinical Nursing (Paediatric Intensive Care), Master of Health Management, Graduate Diploma in Nursing Education, Bachelor of Nursing, Certificate in Maternal & Child Health Nursing, and Certificate in Midwifery and Certificate in General Nursing. Marcia is a member of the Royal College of Nursing Australia, the Maternal & Child Health Nurses Special Interest Group and a member of the Maternal & Child Health State Coordinators Group.
Dr J Moran - Vice Chairperson
Dr. John Moran joined the Board in November 1980 and has served terms as Junior Vice President, Senior Vice President, Treasurer and President from 1986 to 1991 and is a General Practitioner in the Wodonga region. His qualifications are MBBS, FRACGP, BA, Grad Dip Hosp Med Mgr (CSU), and Cert Sports Med. (UNSW).
Mrs Judith Charlton - Treasurer
Mrs Charlton joined the Board in November 2005. Judith is the Group Manager Corporate & Customer Services at Albury City Council and her qualifications are Master of Human Resource Management, Graduate Certificate of Public Sector Management ad Bachelor of Applied Science (EDP).
Mr R Jones
Mr. Rod Jones was appointed to the Board in March 1993, and appointed Treasurer from 1995 to 1998 and President from 1998 – 2004 and is a Property Manager for the Albury Wodonga Development Corporation.
Mrs K Smart
Mrs Kay Smart joined the Board in November 2002 and is currently retired. Kay has been appointed a Justice of the Peace (JP) and is a volunteer with the Adult Day Care “The Cottage” and has considerable work experience in a health environment.
